How to Install Microsoft Backup tips from PC Mobile HelpA division of PC Mobile, Inc. |
Microsoft Backup is a backup tool included with Windows.
This tool is not installed by default when you install Windows. Here’s how to
install Backup:
For Windows 95 and Windows 98:
1.
NOTE: This procedure requires access to your original Windows disks or
CD-ROM or to the server-based-setup (SBS) shared installation of Windows.
2.
In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3.
On the Windows Setup tab, click Disk Tools (or System Tools), and then
click Details.
4.
Click the Backup check box to select it, and then click OK.
5.
Click OK.
For Windows ME:
1.
Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
2.
Insert the Windows Me CD-ROM into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
3.
Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent
the CD-ROM from starting automatically.
4.
Start Windows Explorer, and then browse to the Add-ons\Msbackup folder on
the Windows Me CD-ROM.
5.
Double-click Msbexp.exe to install Microsoft Backup.

How to Install Microsoft Backup (Q152561)
For Windows XP:
1.
Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file in the following location on the
Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM to start a wizard that installs Backup:
CD-ROM Drive :\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP
2.
When the
wizard is complete, click Finish .
