Internet Explorer Branding Manual
Please note that the word "bitmap" is used for the small picture
that appears at the top right hand corner of Internet Explorer, to the right of
the menus. It is not an Icon, because it has to have a ".bmp"
after it. This is the only type of file that can be specified to replace
the picture in Internet Explorer.

This button transfers your settings to Internet Explorer.
This text box allows you to specify the title that appears in the title bar
of Internet Explorer.
These options allow you to set the bitmap back to the default setting of
Internet Explorer, or to enable you to customize the setting of the bitmap.
This bitmap appears in the top right hand corner of Internet Explorer.
This text box allows you to type in the location of the bitmap that will
appear in the top right hand corner of Internet Explorer.
Notes:
- You must select a bitmap file that ends with ".bmp". The
file extension of ".bmp" may or may not be visible in
Windows. You may have to uncheck "Hide File Extensions for Known
File Types" in the folder options dialog in "My Computer",
under the View tab.The taller the bitmap is, the taller the menu bar will be
in Internet Explorer. Select a bitmap that keeps the menu bar to a
reasonably small size.
- The box that the bitmap fits into in Internet Explorer has a black
background. Therefore, if you have a bitmap that is narrower than the
box, the sides will be filled in with black. That is why the default
globe bitmap has a black background (so the black borders blend in with the
black background of the bitmap). You may wish to choose a bitmap with
a black background for this reason. That way you can choose a bitmap
that is small enough to keep the menu bar to its minimum size.
- The box that the bitmap fits into is at least as tall as your bitmap is
wide. In other words, the box will always be square, allowing enough
room for your bitmap. The exception is if the bitmap is smaller than
the default width of the box, in which case the sides are filled in with the
black background. Experiment with different sizes of bitmaps to see
what the effects are.
This button allows you to browse for the bitmap with the File Open
dialog.
