There are four latches to slide toward the center of the case in order to unlock it.

Note the clips are in the locked position, with the metal latches slid toward the center of the case.

Note the two locking tabs that you can access via the vents. These tabs are what you slide the latches with.

Insert a paper clip or similar thin, slender tool through the vent in the bottom of the case as shown to engage the tab. The bottom of the case is blank. The top of the case has the Maxtor logo.

Rock the tool toward the center of the case to unlock it.

The cage slides apart by pulling the sides away from the center.

Insert your tool angled as shown to grab the locking tab.

Rock the tool toward the corner of the case to lock it.

Lift the end of the drive enough to angle it to the side as shown, which pulls it free. Disconnect the power connector and remove your drive.
